Golf event benefits Jamaican orphanage
Wayne and Cindy Anderson of Woodbury have once again organized a golf tournament, silent auction, dinner and entertainment fundraising event for the Robin's Nest Children's Home orphanage, Jamaica. Money raised at this years benefit will be used to complete a dormitory project at the orphange.
Events will be held Thursday, June 4 at Axel's at Prestwick Golf Club, 9555 Wedgewood Drive in Woodbury. Participants may sponsor a hole for $100; enjoy golf, dinner and entertainment for $110; or dinner and entertainment for $25.
The golf tournament will begin at 1 p.m., the silent auction will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., dinner served at 6 p.m., and entertainment begins at 7 p.m.
The event is held in memory of their son Jake, who had visited the home in his high school years during several mission trips and was touched by their needs.
In 2004, Jake was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease. He died in June 2005 from complications of his treatment.
