Globe, cosmetology school to host drop-off sites
Globe University and the Minnesota School of Cosmetology in Woodbury are participating in the "Listening House 60-day Challenge" to raise supplies and awareness for homeless and disadvantaged people.
Now through Oct. 31, members of the community may drop off clothing and personal care items at the Globe or MSC campuses, both in Woodbury.
All donated items will be distributed to the Listening House, a day and evening shelter in St. Paul that provides hospitality, assistance and counsel to people who are homeless, disadvantaged or lonely.
Specific items needed include:
Clothing: Denim/casual pants (adult sizes), T-shirts/sweatshirts (adult sizes), jackets, athletic shoes, backpacks and plastic bags, men's belts, shoelaces for athletic shoes, rain ponchos, umbrellas, baseball caps (Clothing may be gently used.)
Personal items: shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, combs, hair brushes, towels, wash clothes, sheets and pillows, sun screen, bug repellant, reading glasses, and sealed aspirin, Tylenol, ibuprofen, anti-itch cream, and decongestants
Miscellaneous items: ceramic mugs, coffee, tea, creamer, sugar, small paper plates, popular fiction paperback books, AA and AAA batteries, educational/documentary DVD movies, playing cards, dominos, chess games, greeting cards and blank notes
Globe University is located at 8089 Globe Drive, behind Home Depot off of Hudson Road. Minnesota School of Cosmetology is located at 1750 Weir Drive in the Valley Creek Mall.
