Girls soccer: Park tops third-ranked Woodbury in battle of unbeatens
With both teams unbeaten heading into the intra-district and Suburban East Conference rivalry game, the Park girls soccer team upset third-ranked Woodbury 2-1 on Thursday at Woodbury High School to remain undefeated.
Park junior attacker Temi Ogunrinde scored both of the Wolfpack's goals in the win.
After a scoreless first half, Ogunrinde scored the game's first goal to put the Wolfpack up 1-0. Then, Park went up 2-0 after Ogunrinde's second goal. Woodbury scored the game's final goal on a penalty shot.
Park, ranked 16th in Class AA into the game, improved to 6-0-1 on the year with the win and remained unbeaten in the conference at 2-0. Woodbury, the Suburban East Conference champion for the past 10 years, fell to 4-1-1 overall and 1-1 in the SEC.
The win was the first by Park over Woodbury in a long time. The Wolfpack was 0-3-1 against Woodbury since 2008. Park lost 1-0 to the Royals last season.
