Free concert by Minnesota Orchestra
The Phipps Center for the Arts announces the 22nd annual free outdoor concert by the renowned Minnesota Orchestra will take place on Monday, June 29 at 7:30 p.m. at the Lakefront Park band shell in Hudson, Wis.
Under the direction of Sarah Hicks, the orchestra will perform a mix of popular and classical music. The program will include Sousa's "Washington Post" march, Heitzeg's "Blue Liberty," Verdi's Triumphal March from "Aida," an Armed Forces Salute, Berlioz's Hungarian march "Rákóczy," Strauss's "Voices of Spring" Waltz, Williams's Imperial March from "Star Wars," and Tchaikovsky's "1812" Overture.
Hicks is in her third season as the orchestra's assistant conductor. She is the first woman to hold a titled conductor post in the group.
This concert is sponsored by the Fred C. and Katherine B. Andersen Foundation, the Hudson Community Fund, the Margaret Rivers Fund, the National Endowment for the Arts and the William H. Phipps Foundation,.
The Lakefront Park band shell is located west of the Phipps Center at the corner of First and Locust Streets. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
