Footprints Academy will be closing at the end of this school year.

The school, which currently serves grades kindergarten through six, will shut its doors this June in order to make room for Peace of Mind Early Education Center to expand.

Nicole Robbins, Footprints Academy founder, could not immediately be reached for comment.

Footprints Academy opened 13 years ago.

"It is an unexpected turn of events that has led to our decision to close Footprints Academy,” Robbins said in a news release.  “However, with each door that closes, a window opens.  With the closing of Footprints, Peace of Mind has the much needed opportunity to expand our services.”

Peace of Mind, which will take over the Footprintts Academy space, will expand its services to include an accredited kiindergarten program, summer camps and after school programs in addition to the infant, toddler, pre-school and pre-kindergarten classes already offered.

Michelle Beedle will serve as executive director of Peace of Mind.  Beedle previously worked as the partnership director for Rasmussen College's  School of Education.

Beedle began in her role on Wednesday, Jan. 15

“We are looking forward to what the next 20 years of Peace of Mind will bring," Robbins said.
