Final two District 833 administrative spots filled
School District 833 picked from within to fill its final two open administrative positions.
South Washington County Schools announced last week the hiring of a new special services director as well as a technology director.
Kevin Witherspoon, who for six years has been a Park High School assistant principal, is taking over as the district’s director of special services, which includes the special education program. Witherspoon has experience as a special education coordinator and teacher.
Robert Berkowitz was picked as the new director of technology. He’s worked in the technology department since 2012 and was manager of systems and networks during the rollout of the district’s new technology initiative, including the iPad pilot project at five schools.
Witherspoon replaces Jeff Jorgensen, who resigned this summer to take a similar job in the Edina school district. Berkowitz succeeds Andrew Baldwin, who left District 833 for a position with the Farmington school district. They were among six cabinet-level administrators who left the district since this spring.
“These are two very important and high-profile positions,” Superintendent Keith Jacobus said in a statement. “Because of the level of competence and experience within our system, I’m so pleased to have hired from within. Selecting these leaders will ensure a smooth transition in our continued efforts to meet the goals laid out within our strategic plan.”
