East Ridge wrestling: Wayne Otto named head coach
Wayne Otto has been hired as the new wrestling coach at East Ridge High School.
Most recently, Otto was the head coach at Cherokee High School in Canton, Georgia from 2008-2012, where his team advanced multiple wrestlers to the state tournament and delivered one individual state champion. Otto also increased the participation in the wrestling program from 23 to 49 in his first year of involvement with the program. Prior to coaching at Cherokee High School, Otto was the head coach at Tullahoma High School in Tullahoma, Tennessee for one year. That team also advanced 10 individual wrestlers to state and produced an individual state champion.
Otto will be the second head wrestling coach at East Ridge, following the footsteps of Hans Horning, who stepped down from the position just weeks ago after spending four years with the program.
"Wayne is excited to take on this position which he has an extreme passion for coaching," East Ridge Activity Director Jon Hinzman said in a release. "He looks forward to building a program that will allow the students to grow and excel."
