East Ridge wrestling: Raptors score big win vs. Roseville, finish sixth at Trinity Invitational
The East Ridge wrestling team ended its week with the Trinity Invitational after a conference dual victory against Roseville.
With a dual meet and the Trinity Invitational, the East Ridge wrestling team was able to get a good deal of matches under its belt to get the wrestlers into mid-season form.
On Friday, the Raptors defeated Roseville 43-33 to give East Ridge its first Suburban East Conference victory of the season and second in four years.
Ryan Thompson (113), Reid Lyden (126), Emilio Heurta (152) and Kevin Siemers (160) all recorded pins for the Raptors, and Nate Tigges and David Kreuger also won their matches. There were five forfeits during the contest, two of which were awarded to East Ridge and three going to Roseville.
On Saturday, the Raptors competed in the Trinity Invitational and received sixth place as a team out of the 12 competing teams.
Okada was the lone champion for the Raptors, finishing the day with three wins. He pinned his first opponent and won the next two with major decisions, winning the championship match 12-1 over Tim Ford from Eden Prarie.
Jake Trevis (120) took second place. He pinned his first opponent and scored a technical fall victory in his second match winning 18-1, but lost 13-1 against James Goman from Triton High School. Lyden also took second place at 126, pinning his two opponents, but losing the championship match 11-5 against Patrick Ramirez who was also from Triton High School. Huerta took fourth in the tournament, and Kevin Siemers and Jake Pittman each took fifth place.
Next up for the Raptors is a dual match at St. Paul Harding on Wednesday night.
