East Ridge volleyball: Raptors win two in three-day run
The East Ridge Raptors volleyball team opened Suburban East Conference play with a sweep over Mounds View and followed that performance with a sweep over Moorhead.
The Raptors notched two wins over a three-day period and started off conference play on the right foot with a sweep of Mounds View.
East Ridge beat Mounds View 3-0 on Thursday night on their home court with scores of 25-20, 29-27 and 25-23.
It was a big win for the girls after a grueling tournament that happened the weekend before that saw East Ridge play five matches and winning two of them.
On Thursday night, the Raptors' serving game was the highlight of the evening and the team combined for 12 aces. Senior Tess Kelzenberg led the team with five of those aces, and Makayla Sauro ended the match with a huge ace to put an exclamation point on the evening.
Kelzenberg and junior Savanna Lipps led the team with 13 digs each, and senior Margaret Eggert topped the kills category with 18 on the night.
East Ridge followed that performance with a 3-0 win over Moorhead on Saturday with scores of 25-21, 25-18 and 25-18.
Claire Whitman and Madeline Christenson each led the team with 6 kills apiece.
Next up for the Raptors is another Suburban East conference opponent. They'll play Cretin-Durham Hall at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
