East Ridge volleyball: Raptors fall to Eastview in three sets
The East Ridge volleyball season began Thursday night in Apple Valley, where the Raptors lost 3-0 to Eastview High School of Apple Valley, but the team worked together as a unit and got better with each game throughout the match, according to first-year head coach Erin Nickleby.
"They played real hard and never gave up," Nickleby said. "Even through the final game, we kept fighting hard and improving."
East Ridge lost games of 17-25, 21-25 and 24-26 against the Lightning. East Ridge sophomore Claire Whitman led the team with seven kills, and junior Sydney Kleinhuizen had the most digs with 10.
"The participation of the team was pretty spread out, and that was good to see," Nickleby said.
The Raptors took on the Edina Hornets in the home opener Tuesday at East Ridge, after the Bulletin went to press.
