East Ridge gymnastics: Raptors win Big Lake Invite

The East Ridge gymnastics team rode high scores on vault and floor to win the Big Lake Invite Saturday, Jan. 4 at Big Lake High School.

The Raptors finished with a team score of 138.950, beating Big Lake, which took second place, and seven other teams.

East Ridge sophomore Megan Trollen took the meet’s all-around title with a score of 36.85. Trollen’s day included a first-place finish on the bars, a third-place finish on the beam and fifth-place finishes in the vault and in the floor exercise. 

East Ridge sophomore Wren Anderson scored her season’s best on vault and floor with a 9.6 in each event, which won both events. Anderson also placed third on bars and second in the all-around with a score of 36.75.

Other East Ridge notables were turned in by sophomores Karina Joiner and Taryn Johnson. Joiner scored a personal-best 9.5 on vault, earning second place and Johnson placed fourth in the vault with a 9.35.

East Ridge is 5-1 for the season and competes again Jan. 9, at home against rival Park.
