East Ridge girls hockey: Raptors’ win streak snapped by Stillwater
Stillwater snapped East Ridge’s five-game unbeaten streak Wednesday with a 5-3 victory at Bielenberg Arena in Woodbury.
Jaedyn Walz recorded all three goals for the Raptors (12-7-1, 6-6-1 SEC) but the goals came after the Ponies (13-6-1, 10-3-1 SEC) had built a 3-0 lead in the first period.
Walz’s second goal of the game cut the deficit to 3-2 at the 7-minute, 40-second mark of the second period, but Stillwater’s Sierra Smith put the Ponies up 4-2 at the 5:59 mark of the third period.
Walz’s final goal came at the 7:40 mark of the third period and Stillwater padded its lead with a goal at 16:42 for the victory.
The Ponies finished with 32 shots on goal and East Ridge tallied 29 for the game, despite outshooting Stillwater in the final two periods.
Ali Biagini scored twice for the Ponies in the first period and Sam Scheid added a goal for a 3-0 lead.
In the team’s next game, Kayla Bender’s goal 4 minutes, 5 seconds into overtime gave East Ridge a 4-3 victory Friday over Roseville at Roseville Ice Arena.
The Raptors needed a goal from Anya Hafiz with 3:53 left in regulation to force overtime after falling behind 3-2 in the second period.
Brooklyn Pierre had a pair of goals in the first period for East Ridge, but the Raiders stormed back in the second period for a pair of goals to grab a 3-2 lead.
The Raptors outshot Roseville 31-19 for the game.
Erin Cheatham got the win for East Ridge with 16 saves.
The Raptors face Mounds View Saturday in Mounds View.
