East Ridge girls hockey: Raptors topped by Forest Lake with third-period goal
Forest Lake pulled out a 3-2 Suburban East Conference victory Tuesday over East Ridge in Forest Lake with a goal from Maddie Kolbow at the 5 minute, 40 second mark of the third period.
The Rangers (4-3-1, 3-3 SEC) got outshot 35-17 for the game against the Raptors (7-4, 4-3 SEC) who lost for the third time in five games since starting the season 5-0.
East Ridge junior Hannah Johnson staked East Ridge to a 1-0 lead off an assist from senior Jessica Hammer at 3:53 of the first period, but Forest Lake’s Madi Nolan scored two goals in the first period to give the Rangers a 2-1 lead.
Raptors sophomore Katherine Scheibner cut the lead to 3-2 with a goal at 13:05 of the third period.
East Ridge finished 2-for-5 on the power play.
After falling to Forest Lake, East Ridge suffered back-to-back losses for the first time this season.
Mounds View, ranked 19th in Class AA, stayed strong throughout Saturday against the Raptors at Bielenberg Arena in Woodbury for a 4-1 victory.
Sydney Brodt scored twice for the Mustangs (6-3-2, 6-1 SEC) including the game-winner at 12 minutes, 10 seconds of the second period. Brodt added a goal at 7:47 of the third period and Bailey Thompson scored a power-play goal at 14 minutes of the third period.
Mounds View took a 1-0 lead at 10:12 of the first period when Bella Sutton scored on the power play.
Raptors sophomore forward Anya Hafiz tied the game at 16:01 of the first period with an unassisted goal.
The Mustangs finished 2-for-6 on the power play while East Ridge went 0-for-5. Mounds View held a 27-22 advantage in shots on goal.
Sophomore goalie Erin Cheatham made 23 saves in the loss for the Raptors.
East Ridge faces Hastings Saturday at Bielenberg Arena.
