East Ridge girls hockey: Raptors girls fight to draw with White Bear Lake
The Raptors earned a Suburban East Conference point last week after skating to a tie with one of the conference's top teams.
East Ridge tied White Bear Lake 2-2 Friday in the home match-up. The tie came three days after a loss to SEC foe Stillwater, who topped the Raptors 8-2.
In the White Bear Lake game, neither team scored in the period. The opening goal came from East Ridge's Kayla Bender (Kayla Griffith assist) at 14:38 in the second period. The Bears answered back one minute later, tying the game at 1.
The Bears went ahead in the third on a power play goal at 6:41. The Raptors returned the favor on an Erica Michaud goal, with the assist to Olivia Henderson.
White Bear Lake dominated shots on goal in the game with a 35-19 advantage. East Ridge goalie Katherine Ahmann recorded 33 saves in the game.
Game details were not available for the Stillwater match-up.
East Ridge (4-12 overall, 1-9-2 SEC) was tied with Forest Lake for eighth place in the conference with four points.
The Raptors played host to Hastings in a Tuesday game played after the Bulletin went to press. East Ridge returns to action Saturday in a home game against District 833 rival Park.
