The East Ridge girls basketball team's season came to an end in the first game of the Section 4AAAA tournament on Monday, Feb. 28, with a 62-42 loss at Henry Sibley.


East Ridge (7-19) was the ninth seed in the tournament and Henry Sibley (10-16) was seeded eighth. Henry Sibley now advances to play top seed and sixth-ranked White Bear Lake (23-3) on Wednesday, March 2.

In the loss, East Ridge freshman forward Jamie Swanson ended her breakthrough season with a game-high 17 points. Swanson, a 5-9 forward, led the Raptors in scoring on the year with a 9.9 points per game average.

Prior to falling to Henry Sibley, East Ridge had ended its regular season on a high note by defeating Suburban East Conference foe Forest Lake 69-65 in the regular-season finale on Friday, Feb. 25, in Forest Lake.

Four players scored in double figures for the Raptors in the win over Forest Lake (7-19; 4-14 SEC). East Ridge junior center Katherine Hagberg had a game-high 19 points, sophomore forward Brianna Walker scored 18 points, sophomore guard Hannah Pignato netted 15 points and Swanson had 13 points.

East Ridge, which finished ninth in the 10-team SEC with a 3-15 league record, must now say good-bye to four seniors -- Lauren Curtis, Christine Lash, Erin Driscoll and Ashley Keen.
