East Ridge girls basketball: Raptors roll to fifth straight win
The East Ridge girls basketball team climbed to fifth in the Suburban East Conference standings with three wins last week.
The Raptors (15-4; 8-4 SEC) beat Roseville and rival Woodbury in two SEC games, before taking down Farmington in non-conference play last week. East Ridge beat Roseville 63-54 on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at home, then won 45-25 at Woodbury on Friday and 60-49 over Farmington back at home on Saturday. East Ridge is currently on a five-game winning streak.
The Raptors outscored Roseville (16-4; 8-4 SEC) by eight points in the second half to earn the nine-point win. Three players scored in double figures for East Ridge. Senior forward Dai Mixson led the way with a team-high 17 points. Senior guard Jamie Swanson scored 15 points and junior guard Amanda Robinson netted 11 points.
East Ridge jumped out to a 33-18 lead on rival Woodbury (6-13; 2-10 SEC) in a 20-point win. The teams struggled to score in the second half, but the Raptors earned a 12-7 edge after the break to coast to victory.
Mixson had a game-high 17 points and freshman guard Emma Stoehr chipped in 10 points to lead the Raptors. The win was the second by the Raptors over the Royals this season. Woodbury still leads the all-time series 6-3, however.
East Ridge ended the week on a high-note, taking down Farmington by 11 points. The Raptors went up 37-21 in the first half then held on for the win.
Mixson scored a team-high 14 points to help beat the Tigers (9-10; 4-4 Missota). Also, sophomore center Taylor Persche scored 13 points for the Raptors.
East Ridge had a re-match with Roseville on Tuesday after the Bulletin went to print. Next, the Raptors tip off with No. 4-ranked White Bear Lake (19-1; 11-1 SEC) on Friday at The Perch in Woodbury.
