East Ridge boys golf: Raptors cap busy week at prestigious Tri State tournament
The East Ridge boys golf team capped a busy week at the prestigious Tri State tournament at Edinburgh USA Golf Course. The Raptors finished 16th in the 20-team tournament, with a two-day score of 681. East Ridge shot a first-day 335, followed by a 346 on day No. 2.
Wayzata won the tournament with a 612, shooting 312 on day No. 1 and 300 on day No. 2.
East Ridge junior Brady Hanson led the way for the Raptors, taking 18th overall with a two-day 158 score. Hanson shot a 79 on the first day and matched it with a 79 on day No. 2. Following Hanson was sophomore Jack Caron, who carded an 86 on both days to score a 172 overall and senior Jaik Winbush scored a 174 with an 87 on each day. In addition, senior Brandon Johnson and junior Tom Tuohy each scored 182 to give East Ridge their fourth-best score.
Rogers senior Corey Muenzhuber won the individual championship title with a 147, shooting a 71 on the first day and a 76 on the second day.
Prior to the Tri State, East Ridge had two Suburban East Conference matches, taking second place at Dellwood on Monday and eighth place at White Bear Yacht Club on Tuesday.
East Ridge shot a 313 at Dellwood to take second place. Hanson led the way with a 72, followed by Caron (73), Tuohy (81) and Johnson (87). At the Yacht Club, East Ridge shot a 336 to take eighth place.
Winbush had the Raptors' best score of the round with a 79. Tuohy (81), Hanson (82) and John Haering (84) rounded out East Ridge's top four scores.
East Ridge played at Midland Hills on Monday and Prestwick on Tuesday, in a pair of conference matches, after the Bulletin went to press. Next, the Raptors ate at Forest Hills in Forest Lake for an SEC showdown on Saturday.
