East Ridge boys basketball: Raptors roughed up by Blaine, Chanhassen
The East Ridge boys basketball team took its lumps in a pair of non-conference road games last week.
East Ridge (4-4) fell 73-51 at Blaine on Thursday, Dec. 22, after losing 61-47 at Chanhassen on Tuesday, Dec. 20.
Slow starts doomed East Ridge in the losses.
In the loss to Blaine (2-4), the Bengals opened up a 41-14 lead on East Ridge. The Raptors bounced back outscoring Blaine 37-32 second half, but the damage had already been done.
Chanhassen (5-2) went up 32-18 on East Ridge in the first half, before the two three-year old schools played to a 29-29 second half. Chanhassen opened its doors the same year as East Ridge.
In the loss to Blaine, senior Justin Pahl scored a team-high 18 points and junior center Conrad Sexe dropped in 13 points. Also, senior Nnamdi Nwokolo chipped in six points.
Against Chanhassen, Pahl had a team-high 19 points, Sexe scored nine points and senior guard Jarred Morris scored six points.
After a long holiday break, East Ridge gets into the heart of conference play, first taking on major rival Woodbury on Tuesday, Jan. 3, before games with Hastings, Forest Lake and Mounds View.
Historically, East Ridge is 2-2 against Woodbury. The Raptors topped Woodbury twice last year, after Woodbury beat the Raptors two times two years ago.
Woodbury is 5-2 on the year after starting the season with five straight wins and losing its last two games.
