East Ridge boys basketball: Raptors gain No. 2 seed in playoffs
Woodbury Minnesota 8420 City Centre Drive 55125

East Ridge won't need to worry about No. 1-ranked Apple Valley unless it reaches the Section 3AAAA championship game.

The Raptors (18-8) earned the No. 2 seed in the eight-team Section 3AAAA tournament and will face seventh-seeded Rosemount (7-19) in the opening round on Wednesday, March 6, at East Ridge High School. A win would pit East Ridge against either third-seeded Eagan (16-8) or sixth-seeded Henry Sibley (17-9) on Saturday, March 9, at Burnsville High School. Should East Ridge win both games, it would compete for a section title and a shot at the state tournament on Friday, March 15, at Burnsville. The Raptors likely opponent in that game would be No. 1-seeded and No. 1-ranked Apple Valley. The Eagles, led by the much-ballyhooed Tyus Jones, are 25-1 and riding a 24-game win streak.

East Ridge closed out the regular season with a 64-49 loss to Stillwater and a 74-37 win over intra-district rival Park.

Stillwater opened a 29-19 halftime lead on East Ridge and never looked back. The Raptors were led by senior Conrad Sexe's team-high 14 points. Junior forward Brian Ishola chipped in 10 points. Andrew Duxbury had a game-high 20 points to lead the Ponies.

Individual statistics from the East Ridge game were not made available.
