East Ridge baseball: Conference title within reach
East Ridge hopes a potentially rainy week can end with a reign of its own.
The Raptors baseball team has a 12-4 overall record with an 11-4 mark in the Suburban East Conference. By running the table and with a little bit of help, the third-place Raptors could end the week as Suburban East Conference champs.
They took care of business last week with big innings to beat Forest Lake and Stillwater. The Raptors had a five-run seventh in the win over the Rangers in a 6-1 win on Friday, May 9. Against the Ponies, the Raptors put up a seven-run second to win 10-3 on Wednesday, May 7.
Luke Ringhofer drove in two runs for the win over the Rangers, and Drew Molin fanned seven batters in six innings. Cal Kellner had two RBI in the win against the Ponies, and Carter Stoehr three five strikeouts.
“We didn’t win on Monday, but we bounced back against two pretty good teams on Wednesday and Friday,” Raptors coach Brian Sprout said. “It was good way to end the week.”
The week did not begin as well for East Ridge with a loss at Mounds View, 4-1, on May 5. Yet, the Raptors still have a shot at the crown entering the week. They opened with second-place Cretin-Derham Hall on Monday, May 12.
The Raptors also have Park on Wednesday at 4:15 p.m. East Ridge will also play River Falls, Wis. on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
