Dump truck in power line tangle
A dump truck got tangled in overhead cables after a possible equipment malfunction at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday.
Police officials said Radio Drive south of the Bailey Road roundabout was likely to remain closed for several hours while Xcel Energy and Comcast workers repaired the damage.
The Danner Inc. truck, which was involved in construction at the Bielenberg Sports Complex in Woodbury, became entangled in the overhead lines as the driver tried to pass underneath while driving northbound on Radio Drive.
"He thought his box was down," explained Sergeant Curt Zacharias with Woodbury Public Safety.
"It sounds like, preliminary speaking, he might have had some kind of equipment malfunction."
He said traffic was diverted along Bailey Road to the north and Dale Road to the south, to prevent traffic passing underneath the fallen lines.
"Even though we are suspecting they are communication lines, we aren't going to take any chances," added Zacharias. "We are re-routing traffic."
No one was injured in the incident.
