Crock pot cooking ideas for seniors
The School District 833 South Washington Senior Center will host "Crock Pot Cooking: Slow Cooking Savvy for Seniors" from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 20 at the center in the School District 833 Program Center, 8400 East Point Douglas Road South, Cottage Grove. The cost is $3.
The class will offer tips for using the slow cooker year round, including how to prepare meats, entrées, side dishes and desserts, and how to make portion-sized meals and freeze for later use.
The instructor will offer the "What A CROCK!" cookbook featuring 150 recipes adapted for crockery cooking, for $10.
No actual cooking is done in class, however a sample-sized cobbler prepared in a slow cooker will be served. The registration deadline is Friday, Jan. 15.
