County board receives Radio Drive transportation project awards
The Washington County Board of Commissioners received two awards for the Radio Drive (County Road 13) Safety and Mobility Project involving the expansion of the roadway from two to four lanes between Pioneer Drive and Bailey Road in the City of Woodbury.
There were many Washington County "firsts" in this improvement project, including mechanically stabilized earth retaining walls, a multi-lane roundabout with two pedestrian tunnels and an innovative public involvement program called "Roundabout U."
The awards were from the Minnesota County Engineers Association as the Urban Project of the Year and the American Council of Engineering Companies Grand Award.
This was the first time Washington County has won either of these awards.
