Council votes to ban targeted picketing in residential neighborhoods
The Woodbury City Council voted 4-1 Wednesday to create an ordinance that bans targeted picketing in residential neighborhoods.
Council member Amy Scoggins voted against creation of the ordinance.
The council first discussed creation of such an ordinance in February during a workshop in which public safety department officials informed council members about a half dozen incidents that took place over the last year involving animal rights protesters who were picketing homes of 3M officials who live in Woodbury.
The language of the ordinance prohibits persons from targeting an individual's residence for the purposes of picketing or protesting, a staff report on the ordinance stated.
