Concert, dinner celebrate Shepperd's 40 years of music
Mark Shepperd, minister of music at Woodbury Lutheran Church, will celebrate 40 years in ministry at a concert performed in his honor Sunday, May 17, 4 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The concert is free and open to the public. The church is located at 7380 Afton Road.
Woodbury Lutheran Chorale, children's choirs, bells choirs, instrumentals, ensembles and a select guest choir from North Heights Lutheran Church, will perform original works by Shepperd, including a mass number for all groups.
Shepperd began his music career at the age of 18. He came to Woodbury Lutheran Church in 1990 after several years as the minister of music at North Heights. His responsibilities include all music for the sanctuary service, directing the Chorale, Praise Band and Celebration ensemble, and he is also the church organist.
An accomplished musician and arranger, he has written several commissioned pieces and dozens of his works have been released by Augsburg Fortress, Lorenz, MorningStar Music and other sacred music publishers.
A reservation-only dinner will be held at Mississippi Dunes at 6 p.m.
