Collectors Gallery now La Vie Boutique
La Vie means "the life" in French.
Owners of the former Collectors Gallery Dan and Karen Runze had been contemplating the name change for a while. About 10 years, actually.
The store has been a part of Tamarack Village since its inception more than 16 years ago.
"There was hardly anything else here," Karen Runze said. "I think the parking lot was still dirt."
What started out as a collectibles store changed from exclusively that into more of a gift and high quality brand destination.
"Collectibles began to lose their popularity," Runze said. "We started looking for other things."
So they added jewelry, handbags, accessories and a variety of other items.
"It just proved to be the right move for us," she said, adding that it has been 10 years since they made the changes.
Popular names like Pandora, Vera Bradley and Swarovski attracted customers, as well as other gift items that Runze said can't be found anywhere else.
There was just one more thing left to do: changing the name to reflect what the boutique offers.
"The timing just seemed right," she said.
The newly renovated store now has a selection of jewelry, linen and leather handbags and home decorative accents for different seasons.
Runze is also looking forward to bringing Alex and Ani, eco-friendly and positive energy bracelets that let women "express their personality."
"It's the hottest thing on the East Coast," she said. "We're super excited about that line. There is hardly anyone in Minnesota that sells it."
Collectors Gallery has been a family business for more than 30 years that was started by Dan and his father Paul Runze.
Now La Vie Boutique, it is located at the Tamarack Shopping Center between Dick'sSporting Goods and Old Navy.
