Civic and cultural involvement
A variety of summer programs that foster civic involvement, cross-cultural understanding and unity among communities are available to students in School District 833. The programs are co-sponsored by District 833 and St. Paul Public Schools District 625.
Registration will be accepted until Thursday, May 29. Transportation is available on request and lunch is provided.
n The Cultural Academic Athletic Program, an academic skills-based and fitness enrichment program for students in grades five through 11 will be held at the University of St. Thomas, 2115 Summit Ave., St. Paul. n Community Connections Nature Day Camp will take place at Valley Branch Environmental Learning Center, 1553 Stagecoach Trail, Afton. Two sessions are available in July for students, kindergarten through fifth grade. Students will spend the week exploring outdoors.
n The Hmong Culture and Language Program and the Language Learner Academy, a dual-language immersion enrichment program, will offer students an opportunity to explore a variety of traditional and contemporary visual and performing art forms from traditional Hmong dance and music to hip-hop, gardening, tennis and storytelling. Sessions for children kindergarten through 12th grade, will take place at Concordia University, St. Paul, from late July to early August.
n Eagles Summer Camp, a science technology engineering math (STEM) enrichment program will be held July 28 through Aug. 1, at Washington Technology Magnet Middle School, St. Paul.
