City: Bear reportedly roaming Woodbury
Woodbury Minnesota 8420 City Centre Drive 55125

Woodbury police and Minnesota Department of Natural Resources officers are investigating multiple reports of a bear roaming Woodbury.

According to a city announcement, police have received "a handful of calls for service the last few days related to black bear sightings." That included reports from Monday, June 2, when a bear was spotted in the Tamarack Road/Interlachen Parkway area.

"The bear has not shown any signs of aggression," said Woodbury police officer Adam Sack, adding that the bear has run off when people get near it.

The city announcement cites comment from DNR conservation officer Scott Arntzen, who said the bear is in search of food. Bears tend to be on the move early in the morning and in the evening, according to the announcement.

"Residents should not approach the bear, and eliminate all food sources, including garbage cans, pet food, bird feeders, compost, even grills," the announcement states.

The city said it will continue working with the DNR on the bear matter. The city recommends people call 911 if they see the bear and believe it is a safety threat.
