Cabela's to begin foundation work, public hearing set
Major outdoor sporting goods retailer Cabela's has submitted an application to build an 85,000 square foot store south of Interstate 94 and west of Radio Drive in Woodbury.
Foundation work is expected to begin soon, now that a grading permit has been requested and is expected to be approved by City Council Wednesday, June 12.
Store officials hope to get a head start on road alignment work so that it doesn't interfere with building construction schedule, Community Development Director Dwight Picha said.
The public is invited to provide input on the site and building plans for the retailer at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 26 at City Hall.
Cabela's plans to buy 10 acres from Jerry's Enterprises, which owns the 19-acre parcel adjacent to Tamarack Village, to build the store that's expected to open in the fall of 2014.
That leaves a few acres for stormwater and wetlands, Picha said, and the rest for a convenience store/gas station and a coffee shop.
