Brunnette first to file for School Board
Woodbury Minnesota 8420 City Centre Drive 55125

South Washington County School Board member Tracy Brunnette was the first to file to run in the Nov. 5 election.

Brunnette, a Cottage Grove resident, filed July 31 for a four-year seat on the board. She was first elected to the board in 2000.

Brunnette is among four members whose four-year terms end this year. The others are David Kemper, Laurie Johnson and Marsha Adou.

The November election will also include a two-year seat. Board member Katy McElwee-Stevens was appointed to fill a seat left vacant with Leslee Boyd's resignation in early 2013.

As of early this week, only Brunnette had filed to run this fall. The filing deadline is 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13.

Candidates can pick up an affidavit of candidacy at the District Service Center, 7362 East Point Douglas Road, Cottage Grove. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 13. There is a $2 filing fee to run for office.

Board candidates must be eligible voters, at least 21 years old, a resident of the school district for at least 30 days before the Nov. 5 election and not a convicted predatory offender.
