Beach blanket bonanza at Woodbury's Carver Lake Beach
For most Minnesotans, last week's high temperatures - which saw triple digits - were a cause for frustration and an excuse to stay inside air conditioned areas.
For others it was the perfect beach weather.
Hordes of people descended on Carver Lake Beach last week to cool off in the lake and have some fun in the sun.
Beachgoers enjoyed everything from swimming, volleyball, sand castles and generally just lounging on the beach.
Carver Lake Beach is located in Carver Lake Park at 3175 Century Avenue South. The 150-acre natural resource-based park includes woods, steep lakeshore bluffs and a 40-acre deep lake.
Woodbury residents can access the park by taking Courtly Road west as it curls toward 494, turning into Century Avenue. Signs for the park can be found near the underpass.
The beach is open for swimming from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
