Alpine skiing: PWER opens season Tuesday; Raptors, Koprucki take second

The Park, Woodbury and East Ridge boys and girls alpine ski teams -- or PWER -- opened the 2010-11 season on Tuesday, Dec. 14, at Afton Alps.

In the boys Suburban East Conference meet, Woodbury finished fourth out of 10 teams with 580 points, East Ridge was seventh with 495 points and Park was ninth with 262 points. White Bear Lake won the boys race with 656 points.

In the girls race, East Ridge finished in second place with 732 points, Woodbury was seventh place with 334 points and Park was 10th with 156 points. Stillwater won the girls race with 811 points.

Highlighting the meet was East Ridge's Elizabeth Koprucki, who finished second overall in the girls race with a time of 1:02.59. Mounds View's Juliana Damberg won the girls race with a time of 1:02.01. Eddie Cox of White Bear Lake won the boys race with a 58.5 time.
