4-H camps open to community
Washington County 4-H is offering a summer packed full of games, crafts, songs and much more at "4-H in the Park" Day Camp offered across Washington county for youth ages 6 to 12.
Teen camp counselors will lead and teach the day camps throughout the summer. While teaching games, songs and crafts, camp counselors will incorporate the 4-H pledge, using the four Hs - head, heart, hands and health - as themes through camp. Participants will gain skills and knowledge through a hands-on 4-H experience.
4-H in the Park is offering the following day camps in nearby cities:
sPETacular - Monday, July 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pioneer Park in Stillwater. Participants will learn about different kinds of pets around the world and how to take care of them, as well as animal science.
Go-Go Gadgets - Tuesday, July 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cottage Grove Ravine Park in Cottage Grove. Participants will learn about outdoor technologies including rain gages, GPS systems, compasses and more.
Watch Me Grow - Thursday, July 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Richard Walton Park in Oakdale. According to organizers, attendees will "Learn about basic health and nutrition while getting to the 'root' of how plants are grown and what they do for our environment." Topics include recycling, making healthy snacks, and basic earth science.
Acting Out - Friday, July 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Lake Elmo. Campers will spend a day learning about the basics of theatre arts including performance, costume creation and direction
The $20 registration fee for each camp includes a camp T-shirt and a snack. Campers must bring a bag lunch for each day. Space is limited.
