Mike Anderson returns for a third season as head coach of the Royals this season.

"I am very excited about this year and the next few years," Anderson said. "We have a great group of guys who love the game and are committed to playing well."

Leading the way this season are a pair of All-Conference honorable mention award winners in seniors Thomas Swedenborg and Mike Myers. Myers has been pegged team captain for 2013.

Last year, Woodbury qualified for the second day of the Section 3AAA tournament and took fifth place overall with a 654 two-day total. Team members included: Hamilton, Swedenborg, Myers, Wareham and 2012 grads Tyler Graves and Connor Brandt. Individually, last season, Wareham was the lone Royal to represent Woodbury at the state tournament, where he finished in a tie for seventh place overall.

Woodbury also finished in a tie for third place in the 10-team Suburban East Conference championship tournament last season and was seventh in the final SEC standings.

This year, it's believed Forest Lake, Stillwater, Hastings and East Ridge will be the teams to beat in the Suburban East. In section play, Hastings, Eagan and East Ridge will likely be the main teams standing in Woodbury's way of a state berth. Hastings, especially, will be a team to watch this year. The Raiders have been fielding the same lineup for the past three seasons - and won the SEC Championship tourney last year.

For the first time in a long time the SEC Championship and first day of the Section 3AAA Championship won't be played at Keller, which is under construction. The SEC tourney will be held at Indian Hills Golf Course in Stillwater on May 21. The Section 3AAA tournament will take place on May 28 and 31 at Goodrich Golf Club in Maplewood and Bunker Hills, respectively.

Weather permitting, the season is set to start with an invitational at Troy Burne Golf Club on April 8. Woodbury is also scheduled to play in Park's invitational at River Oaks in Cottage Grove on April 9 and East Ridge's invitational on April 15 at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Stillwater. The conference schedule begins on April 16 at Prestwick Golf Club.

"We have scheduled a variety of challenging courses in the Twin Cities and throughout Minnesota for practices and tournaments," Anderson said. "Woodbury golf has a tremendous tradition and this team intends to follow or improve on the performances of the past great teams."
