Woodbury looks to build on a sixth-place section finish as runners prepare for the 2012-13 season.

The Royals' girls cross-country team takes the course Thursday, Sept. 6, at Hastings.

This year's team fields 14 runners, led by three seniors. They are Ainslee Neu, Caroline Joyce and Mikaela Hunter.

Also returning to this year's team is freshman standout Lauren Smith, who finished 15th at last year's section meet, where the top 10 runners qualified for state. She led all Woodbury runners and was followed by Alexus Baumgartner and Catherine Henning, both of whom return to the course this year as sophomores.

Juniors on this year's roster are Caitlin Balsimo, Emily Schoen, Grace Wood and Keshia Ngo. Sophomore runners will be Alexus Baumgartner, Christine Doherty and Henning.

In addition to Smith, Woodbury's freshmen racers are Kathleen Danielson and Monet Claypool. One eighth grader, Maggie Wilson, is on the varsity roster.
