Dozens gathered Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park in Woodbury to honor those who served in the nation's military.
The ceremony featured local veterans who told their service stories.
Army Sgt. John Krumm's son spoke about his father's service during World War II.
Lt. Louise Sparkman touched on her more than 20 years of service in the U.S. Navy between 1974-1994.
John Martin, an Army sergeant also spoke about his service during the Vietnam War.
Martin took pause during his speech to remember the men who fought alongside him—some of whom died in combat.
"Every week I think of these guys—these two guys that I lost," Martin said. "I'm sure what I'm thinking about then are the other 58,000 Americans who died in Vietnam."
The ceremony featured music by the Minnesota Chorale Group and the East Ridge High School Band, as well as a short speech by Woodbury Mayor Mary Giuliani Stephens.
