New boutique opens in Afton

J.J.'s Boutique, located next to Baglios of Afton, is a recently opened store that carries a variety of unique items including soaps, candles, purses, jewelry and greeting cards.

A new boutique in Afton is hoping to be the one stop shop for all things gifts.

Hudson resident Jerri Jo Eichten opened J.J.'s Boutique in Afton's Old Village, in the space attached to Baglio's of Afton, earlier this spring.

Eichten previously had a boutique, J.J. Eichten's Stamps and More, in downtown Stillwater and she said she had the urge to open another.

"I've always wanted to have cards and other gifts and Afton is a nice, quaint area," she said.

J.J.'s Boutique carries a wide variety of merchandise including novelty soaps, scented candles, massage candles, nail polishes, "shampowder," or dry shampoo, sugar scrub and body butter.

J.J.'s Boutique even has a sink in the store so customers can try out some of the soaps and scrubs.

Eichten also carries Swarovski crystal and pearl jewelry, greeting cards, puzzles, children's toys, decorative glass dishes, personalized mugs, stationary, "card cubbies" for credit cards or business cards, coupon holders, purses and wristlets.

"It's kind of just a one stop shop in a way where you can get a card, a gift and gift bag all together," she said.

J.J.'s Boutique is decorated with whites and pale blues.

"It's kind of a beachy theme," Eichten said. "It's peaceful, tranquil."

J.J.'s Boutique is open Mondays, Wednesday and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12:30-5 p.m.

The boutique is closed Tuesdays.

Eichten said she is hoping to establish herself in Afton since she has a niche.

To help build her business, Eichten said she is offering a 15 percent discount for first time customers.

"I like meeting new people and visiting with people," she said.

J.J.'s Boutique is located at 3290 St. Croix Trail S. in Afton. J.J.'s Boutique's Facebook page is www.facebook.comjjsbtq.
