A new Morning dawns in Woodbury: Tuesday Morning moves to Valley Creek Plaza

The Valley Creek Plaza welcomed a new tenant last week.

Tuesday Morning, a retailer that specializes in upscale closeout merchandise, moved from its Hudson Road location into the former Office Depot property.

"We doubled our space and I think we'll have more traffic too," said Tuesday Morning Regional Manager Connie Hansen. "We're next to Kohl's, Target, Marshall's - bigger names next door."

The new location will have 16,000 square feet of space filled with various merchandise from household goods to baby clothes.

The retailer is known for selling brand name items, purchased directly from manufacturers and wholesalers, at lower prices.

Tuesday Morning was open at the Hudson Road location near Walmart for about two years. Company officials decided to expand when the Valley Creek Plaza space opened up, Hansen said.

Customers already began shopping at the new location last week while employees continued to move items from the old store, which will close Oct. 1.

Home furnishings, patio and garden merchandise, crystal glassware, cookware, bath and bedding items and decorative accessories are arranged by department at the store.

Although it is called Tuesday Morning, the store is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day of the week.

"The first Tuesday of each month we try to announce our new goods," Hansen said.

But the name also dates back to when the store would only open once a month for up to 80 percent off discounts, then close for the rest of the month to restock the shelves in between sales.

"So we try to keep a little bit of that," Hansen said.

Tuesday Morning has 840 locations across the country including 10 Twin Cities stores.
