T.G.I Friday's closes Woodbury location

After 15 years in Woodbury, T.G.I. Friday's closed its doors Monday, Sept. 12.

Corporate spokesperson Steve Coe said the expired lease was the main reason for closing the location.

But he added that the restaurant wasn't reaching its full potential either.

"The business wasn't performing at the level that we would like and the lease expired and we took the opportunity then to close the restaurant," Coe said.

Signs for the Radio Drive restaurant were already down by mid-week.

The Woodbury T.G.I Friday's is the second to close this year after Roseville's location shut down earlier this summer.

"We're always looking at market conditions, demographic changes, development in the area," Coe said. "As a result, we regularly open restaurants and on occasion close restaurants. That's the case with this restaurant."

The company was not interested in renewing the lease, which is not unusual, according to operations director Joe Causse.

"I've been with Friday's for 32 years and sometimes we do and sometimes we don't," he added.

The corporate-owned business may return to Woodbury in the future, however, Coe said.

"I think that's certainly possible," he said.
