Energy firm bringing more than 100 jobs to Woodbury

Northern Tier Energy will occupy the second floor of the former Gateway Corporate Center in Woodbury.

An energy company that recently acquired a number of Super America gas stations will soon fill the former Gateway Corporate Center in Woodbury.

The company, Northern Tier Energy LLC, is an independent downstream energy company headquartered in Ridgefield, Conn., with a refinery in St. Paul Park and offices in Mendota Heights.

Company spokeswoman Christine Carnicelli said Northern Tier needed a place for more than 110 Minnesota employees to work out of one location.

The Mendota Heights office is where retail operations for Super America happen.

"All the employees will move to the Woodbury office from Mendota Heights," Carnicelli said, adding that about 70 new positions will join the company.

Northern Tier will occupy the majority of the second floor of the two-story building, located on Bielenberg Drive north of Tamarack Road.

The company hopes to move into the building by September, since little remodeling was needed before opening.

The company purchased 166 SuperAmerica convenience stores in Minnesota in December. They were previously owned by Marathon Oil Corp.
