Sure, Woodbury already has three Caribou Coffee locations. Now it has four. Only, the newest one offers something the others do not — Einstein Bros. Bagels.

The new Caribou Coffee and Einstein Bros. Bagel shop opened Nov. 3 in the CityPlace development. It is the second combined store to open in the Twin Cities, according to Caribou spokesperson Bri Bauer.

“It brings the best of both worlds,” Bauer said. “Why this concept is working and why we’re so sure it will work is that so many people get coffee from one place, and bagels from another. This alleviates the need for them to make dual trips.”

Woodbury’s is the 11th new concept store to have opened nationwide. By the end of 2015, there will be 20, and more will be opened in 2016, Bauer said.

Caribou is based out of Minnesota, and Einstein Bros. Bagels is a Colorado-based company. The bagel group was acquired by Caribou in 2014, allowing the company to broaden its market base.

“We pick and choose very carefully where we go when we open these, and we’re very excited about this location,” Bauer said. “We’re going to hit the ground running with it, but we are very strategic with where we are opening.”

Bauer said both brands have “kind of a cult following,” so the new concept of offering bagels and coffee in the same location allows the company to draw from a larger, loyal audience. Einstein Bros. Bagels does have more stores, nationwide, than Caribou does, so now Caribou has the opportunity to get into some of those markets, as well.

The first Caribou Coffee and Einstein Bros. Bagel store in Minnesota opened in Richfield in October.

“When we look at a city like Woodbury, we know they kind of congregate on weekends, go to coffee shops to meet with friends, and things like that. We think that having a place like a coffee and bagels concept is good for Woodbury,” she said. “And when you think about it, is there anything better than the smell of fresh coffee and the smell of fresh bread being baked? You just want to hang out there.”

The new Caribou Coffee and Einstein Bros. Bagels shop is located at 365 Radio Drive, and is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays. For more information, visit coffeeandbagels.com, or follow Caribou Coffee or Einstein Bros. Bagels on Facebook.
